type of dessert or snack recipe made with 8 or 9 medium size apples.

Served warm or cold with a dollop of ice cream or whipped cream, this is a quick and easy recipe with apples that EVERYONE will love!
I like to make this apple betty in a round casserole dish, but of course it can just as easily be made into a square baking dish.
For a variation, this recipe can be made as a Deep Dish Apple Brown Betty, covered with pastry instead of the crumble topping, (see below).
Using a
purchased pie crust, placed upside-down over the apples makes a VERY quick warm apple dessert!
Ingredients
8 - 9 medium-large size apples
1/3 cup granulated sugar (more if apples are tart)
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup butter
1/2 tsp. salt
sprinkling of cinnamon, if desired
Directions
Core, peel and slice the apples into a greased, 9" round casserole dish.
Sprinkle the granulated sugar over the apples, and, if desired sprinkle cinnamon over the sugar.
In a bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, butter and salt until mixture is crumbly. Mixture will be a little lumpy, that is normal.
Sprinkle the crumb mixture over the apples in the casserole dish, and pat the topping down lightly with your hand.
Bake, uncovered, at 375° F for about 35 minutes, or until apples are tender, and topping is golden.
Serve warm or cold with a dollop of ice cream or whipped cream, or serve plain!
Re-heat any left-overs in the microwave.

Recipe Variation - Deep Dish Apple Betty
Prepare apples as above, and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Cover apples with pastry, (you can use homemade pastry, or a purchased pie crust placed upside-down over the apples!), and cut "vents" (slits) in the crust.
Sprinkle pastry crust with granulated or raw sugar.
Bake as above.
I don't think making an apple dessert recipe can be ANY easier than that!
