A very "health conscious" friend passed this recipe for me to share with my website visitors. A healthy snack-food for after school!
If you cannot find these ingredients in your Grocery Store, they can usually be purchased in a store specializing in Health Food.
Ingredients
1 log goat cheese, softened
1 cup grated raw milk cheddar cheese
2 grated apples (leave apple peel on)
1 tbsp. finely chopped red pepper
1 tbsp. finely chopped green onion
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. *finely chopped pecans
Note - To finely chop the pecans, place the pecans in between folded waxed paper, (or in a sealed plastic bag), and roll over them with a pastry rolling pin.
Directions
In a bowl, combine all the above ingredients except the chopped pecans.
Spoon the apple dip into 2 or 3 small dip/snack bowl.
Sprinkle with the chopped pecans.
Serve with apple slices or rice crackers.
Store any left-over dip in the refrigerator.
Did You Know?
Apples are a good source of flavonoids, which have antioxidant properties.
It is believed that most of this compound in apples is found in the peel, therefore, eating apples including the skin is the healthiest way to eat an apple!
Antioxidants are believed to help prevent and repair oxidative stress, a process that damages body cells and has been linked to the development of diseases such as cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer's disease.
