Make this Apple Puff Pastry Recipe with cream cheese! It's quick and easy, (using pre-made / purchased puff pastry) and makes fabulous fruit pastries.
The apples are pre-cooked with cinnamon,
and added to puff pastry with cream cheese.
They look AND taste amazing!
One recipe makes about 18 apple pastries.
If desired, pears can be substituted for the apples in the ingredient list, to make "pear puff pastries" instead.
1 - 250 gram package cream cheese
3 tbsp. granulated sugar
3 medium cored, peeled, sliced apples
2 tbsp. liquid honey
1/3 cup raw sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon, or to taste
1 package puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
Using an electric mixer, mix the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar together, until well combined.
In a pan, on medium-low heat, cook the sliced apples, honey, raw sugar and the cinnamon until the apples are tender, about 10 minutes.
Cut each pastry sheet into 9 squares.
Spread the cream cheese mixture (about 2 tsp.), in the center of each square and top with about three or four slices of cooked apple.
Fold the two opposite points of the square of the puff pastry over each other and seal together with a small dollop of the sauce from the cooked apple mixture.
Place the apple pastries on baking sheets.
Bake the pastries at 375° F for about 18 - 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve warm or cooled.
Store puff pastries in a sealed / airtight container to keep them fresh.
