This Apple Crumble Recipe is our family favourite apple/ fall dessert.
When I became a wife and mother myself, I copied this exact recipe from my Mother's recipe box, because it was an amazing recipe she often made for our family.
I remember the anticipation I felt when I knew my Mom had made this fruit crumble for dessert or snack time!

I have made this particular recipe again and again...and our family never seems to get "tired" of it.
Our favourite way to eat this scrumptious crumble is served warm, with ice cream, whipped cream, or whipped dessert topping.
I don't doubt that THIS scrumptious fall dessert will soon become YOUR family favourite too!
Note - If you wish to make this recipe in a oven-safe bowl, instead of an 8" square baking dish, (I sometimes do that), and it works equally as well.
If you wish to make this recipe in a 9" x 13" baking dish, simply double the recipe...I often do this, and it works great!
Crumble Making Tip: Make a double batch or a triple batch of the oatmeal topping, store it in the fridge, and when you want to make another crumble dessert, presto! - The crumble topping is already made and ready to go!
Ingredients
8 large apples
1 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/3 cup melted butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup all-purpose flour, (additional flour as needed)
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2/3 cup rolled oats
Directions
In a bowl, combine the melted butter and the brown sugar, and stir till well mixed.
Add the flour, cinnamon and the rolled oats and stir to combine. Mixture should resemble coarse crumbs. *If mixture is too "wet" add additional flour, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Peel, core, and slice apples into a greased 8" baking dish.
Sprinkle the granulated sugar over the apples in the baking dish.
Spread the crumble mixture over the sliced apples.
Bake at 375° F for about 30 minutes.
Store any left-over crumble in the refrigerator, and reheat it in the microwave the next day!
