Served warm or cooled, plain, or with a dollop of ice cream or whipped cream, this apple crisp will take your taste buds for a ride!
Ingredients
10 cups peeled, cored and sliced apples (about 18 med. size apples)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup butter, melted
Directions
Place the sliced apples into a 9" x 13" baking dish.
In a medium size bowl, use a fork to mix together the granulated sugar, the 1 tbsp. flour and the ground cinnamon, and sprinkle over the sliced apples in the baking dish.
Pour the water evenly over all.
In a larger bowl, use a fork to combine the 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and the melted butter. The mixture should resemble coarse crumbs.
Spread the crumb mixture evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
Bake at 350 ° F for 40 - 45 minutes or until the topping is golden and the apples are tender.
Serve warm or cold plain, or with a dollop of ice cream or whipped cream.
ENJOY THIS SCRUMPTIOUS APPLE CRISP DESSERT!
Tip: Make a double batch of the oatmeal crumble topping, and store it in the refrigerator for up to one week. Then, when you are ready to make another apple crisp, presto! the topping is ready to go!
