Ingredients
1 - (500 gr. size) package oatmeal cookie mix (Example: "Betty Crocker")
1/2 cup butter (firm)
2 - (8 oz. size) - packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 medium egg
1 - (21 oz. size) can apple pie filling
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon (or to taste)
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
Add the cookie mix to a large mixing bowl.
Using a pastry blender, or a fork, but in the butter, until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the crumb mixture. Press the remaining crumbs into the bottom of a greased, (bottom and sides), (I used cooking spray), 9" x 13" baking dish. Bake at 350° F for 10 minutes, then remove from oven.
Meanwhile, in large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer on "medium" speed, beat the cream cheese, granulated sugar, flour, vanilla extract, and the egg until well combined and mixture is smooth.
Spread the cream cheese mixture gently and evenly over the partially-baked crust. Do this in spoons full, and then "join" together the dollops of filling, so as not to lift the crust from the bottom of the dish.
Use the flat side of a large spoon, dipped in water to smooth the top of the filling mixture.
In a medium size bowl, mix the pie filling and the cinnamon, and spoon evenly over the cream cheese mixture.
Sprinkle the reserved crumbs over top.
Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over top.
Bake at 350° F for about 35 minutes, or until light golden brown.
Allow to cool for 30 minutes.
Refrigerate to chill (uncovered), then cut into squares or bars.
Makes 24 bars.
